Due to increased workload we are seeking to recruit an Overhead Line Design Engineer. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team of engineers, focusing on delivering intricate designs of the overhead structures in a rail environment.

What are my job responsibilities?

The OHL Design Engineer provides specialist advice, designs, reports, and delivers engineering advice and input across a portfolio of projects. Specifically, you will manage, and complete design work associated with Overhead Rigid Conduct line design.

Engineering work includes Layout Design, Assembly Design, line schedules, stringing tables and charts, design reports, site verification, drawings, specifications and design standards. The incumbent will coordinate with the wider team for successful completion of the deliverables.

The OHL Design Engineer is able to complete complex projects or assignments autonomously and provides technical solutions to problems with little or no precedent.

·  Perform, review and approve Overhead line designs (mainly OCR type) complying to relevant international standards
·  Ensure designs approved for delivery comply with relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures
·  Be proficient in the use of engineering software to prepare Overhead lines designs.
·  Update or create design documentation to ensure continued compliance to standards and customer requirements
·  Manage or complete studies in specialist areas such as Overhead line design, sag -tension, plan and profile, structural design of support structures, structural design of steel poles design
·  Experience in designing retractable OCR
·  Manage or complete Construction Design Studies (CDS) to assess models based on actual construction loadings, including methods of works, pulling locations and forces etc.;
·  Prepare, review and manage specifications and other design documentation;
·  Assist with type and sample tests. Witness FAT (Factory acceptance test) for OHL equipment
·  Work closely with Siemens AG design teams and engineering on the customer requirement, coordinate design verification and submission to customer.
·  Maintain close contact with clients and vendors.
·  Engineering support for the tender / bids
·  Follow carefully the safety guide lines as per HSSE & OSHA's policy of the company.
