Then come and join our global team as Molecular Imaging Scientist to push the boundaries of total body PET.


The role is a fixed-term 3-year position working across industry, academia and healthcare environments to support collaborative PET imaging projects between Siemens Healthineers, University of Edinburgh, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow and the National PET imaging Platform (NPIP).

This role is based in Queen's Medical Research Institute, Edinburgh.


Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You will collaborate on PET imaging projects across industry, academia, and healthcare environments.
  • You will work in a multi-disciplinary setting to advance total body PET technology, exploring new clinical applications and enhancing existing work.
  • You will be building strong connections with PET R&D HQ in Knoxville, TN, and other Siemens Healthineers PET scientists in the NPIP network
  • You will be responsible for publishing results in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to conferences, and invention disclosures when necessary.

Your qualifications and experience:

  • First degree in physical sciences/mathematics/computer science/electronic engineering or similar
  • PhD in PET/physical sciences/mathematics/computer science/engineering or similar OR 3+ years post graduate experience in an academic, industry or healthcare setting
  • A proven track record in research, innovative thinking and real-world problem solving
  • Competent in one or more scientific programming languages (Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.)
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a virtual and fast-paced environment
Desirable
  • Broad knowledge of medical imaging (SPECT, PET, CT, DICOM, coordinate systems, image registration etc.).
  • Experience in PET kinetic modelling, simulation and network analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in modern approached of AI such as machine learning, deep learning, generative adversarial networks etc.
  • Working knowledge of industrial approaches of software development (e.g. Agile), software development lifecycles, version control solutions, QA, system testing, project management.
  • Knowledge of biostatistics and clinical study design methodologies
