Mechanical Project Engineer - Airport Baggage Handling (Denver, Colorado)

Job description

We are seeking a talented and motivated MechanicalEngineer to join our team in the airport baggage handling industry. The successfulcandidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintainingthe mechanical systems and components that facilitate the efficient andreliable movement of baggage throughout the airport.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop mechanical systems and componentsfor baggage handling equipment, including conveyor systems, sorting systems,baggage carousels, and related machinery.

2. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses toevaluate the potential effectiveness of new designs and modifications toexisting systems.

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, includingelectrical engineers, project managers, and maintenance personnel, to ensureseamless integration of mechanical systems with other airport infrastructure.

4. Perform detailed calculations and simulations tovalidate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical designs.

5. Create and maintain technical documentation, includingspecifications, drawings, and manuals, to support the manufacturing,installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

6. Identify opportunities for improvement andoptimization of existing baggage handling equipment, and lead efforts toimplement enhancements in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

7. Participate in the selection and evaluation ofmechanical components and suppliers, ensuring compliance with industrystandards and regulatory requirements.

8. Support troubleshooting and resolution of mechanicalissues in operational baggage handling systems, working closely with maintenanceteams to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

9. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, andemerging technologies in baggage handling and mechanical engineering to driveinnovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

1. bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or arelated field.

2. Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably inthe field of airport baggage handling or material handling systems.

3. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks,AutoCAD) and simulation tools for mechanical analysis.

4. Strong understanding of mechanical principles,materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical component selection.

5. Familiarity with relevant industry standards andcodes, such as ASME, ANSI, and ISO, as well as regulatory requirements in theaviation and transportation sectors.

6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability towork effectively in a collaborative team environment.

7. Effective communication skills and the ability to presenttechnical information clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders.

8. Project management experience and the ability tomanage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • The starting pay range for this position is $98,600 - $133,100. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
