Position Overview Provide mechanical design solutions in the world's leading water and air cooled, medium voltage, variable frequency drive. Solutions include 3D modeling, detailing, and proper assembly documentation for modification of electrical equipment used to power some of the world's most important process systems. Responsibilities • Develops the design of non-complex hardware solutions. Guides tracking of orders to ensure that equipment, cost and delivery objectives are met by responding to customers promptly. o New parts created and detailed o Understanding of vendor capabilities in designs o Abide by industry and facility standards in designs and documentation • Create designs to satisfy the technical objectives of a project utilizing 3D CAD software and modeling software (NX preferred). o Sheet metal enclosure designs o Simple components such as bent metal or glastic • Coordinate with electrical engineering on the assembly of electrical components. • Coordinate with manufacturing personnel and materials personnel on the overall structure of assemblies in project designs. • Understand and execute ECRs for provided designs. • Use of PLM system (Teamcenter) to obtain engineering released documentation • Attend design reviews internally to resolve technical and programmatic issues. • Participate and perform action items as a team member or lead projects involving other engineers and cross-functional team members. • Represent Operations Engineering Department on cross-functional teams/meetings • Self-motivated with ability to deliver on-time • Continuous improvement mentality • Typically three to five years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of responsibilities as presented above. • Housekeeping and 5S activities which includes organizing work area for orderliness at all times and ensuring work area is accessible and safe for internal employees and customer traffic Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience • BS Mechanical Engineering required (Mechanical or EMET preferred). Certification may be required in some areas • Common math skills and problem-solving skills • Knowledge of hardware use including strength analysis • Intermediate computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat • Good oral and written communication skills • Strong organization and excellent time management skills • Ability to work in a strong process-oriented facility. • Possess a familiarity with, and an ability to follow, all engineering policies and procedures. • Understand and follow a standard engineering ECR process • Travel not required for position • Safety and Quality attitude Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience • Minimum of three to five experience • 3D design software including NX and Mechanical Desktop • Sheet metal and enclosure design experience a plus • Design in medium voltage electrical equipment environment • Knowledge of SAP • Knowledge of Teamcenter • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams • Working in a high paced production environment *LI-CYL
