Position Title: Manager-Mechanical Design Engineering –MV

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Lead the MV mechanical design engineering team, which is responsible for developing new customer-specific designs and maintenance of existing product designs and assemblies. Support long-term growth initiatives with a focus on customer experience, employee development, and process improvement. Provide leadership and technical support during the quotation, design approval, detailed engineering and post-project lessons learned phases. Manage the day-to-day needs of the team, including training and coaching new team members, managing the schedule, resolving escalations, and coordinating with factory and field stakeholders. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing by leading improvements to the mechanical design library, and ensuring that there are no defects that could cause problems with the functionality of the equipment, safety of the user, or rework in the factory during assembly. Ensure mechanical designers use best design practices, such as part numbering and use of typical assemblies. Conduct mechanical quality checks and lead initiatives for continuous quality improvement to increase First Pass Yield. Review OCNs in order to create preventive action items. Provide support to the Engineering Liaison in the factory. Be a technical leader with a strong focus on employee skills development.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as a Simulation Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or a related occupation. The position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: 3D design; Training and developing engineers; Working with complex engineering Bill of Materials (BOMs); Experience in a leadership role; and power distribution design.
