Within the research group Systems Engineering, we are searching for “Software Engineer for Cloud and Front-End development” to join our research team in Leuven, Belgium. The software development activities will mainly be carried out atSiemens Industry Software N.V.located in Leuven, Belgium.

Objective:

The Software Engineer applies their expertise and knowledge to technical projects, products and prototypes to bring a research prototype into a SaaS solution. Responsibilities include developing, conducting, and evaluating new approaches to meet future product objectives faster and more efficiently.

Last but not least you should love engineering products like cars, rockets and aircrafts since your software will be used to develop them.

This position reports to the RTD Manager.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

· Technical development of prototypes for a SaaS application.
· Provide support and maintenance on existing prototypes and libraries.
· Coordinate and communicate work effort within the organization.
· Identify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and trends.
· Contribute to and write software documentation.
· Participates and organizes code and design reviews. Makes updates based on review recommendations.

Profile

· University degree M.Sc. or higher in computer science, applied math or similar.
· Interest in engineering design (automotive, aerospace, space, marine and others).
· Experience with software development for cloud applications.
· Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (Javascript, Python, Go ...)
· Deep understanding of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and software patterns.
· Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and multiple software development approaches.
· Knowledge and expertise in node.js, riot.js, nginx, socket.io, RabbitMQ, Reddis and MongoDB are beneficial.
· Organized, independent and detail-oriented.
· Languages:
· Fluent in English.
· Basic knowledge of German and/or French are extra assets
