Internship in Quantum Algorithms for Cognitive Healthcare

The aim of this 3-6 month industrial internshipis to investigate the use of quantum machine learning for healthcare applications.

Quantum machine learning is an emerging research field with the potential to revolutionize machine learning. It combines machine learning with quantum computers which have the potential to perform extremely fast calculations to solve problems that are computationally intractable with classical computers. The internship will be carried out in collaboration with Siemens Healthcare UK. The project will be supervised by Peter Mountney at Siemens Healthcare UK and Mark Herbster and Simone Severini UCL. The intern will work closely with senior staff in supporting research projects, creating conceptual systems for demonstrations and writing up publications.

What are my responsibilities?

• Support research, design, and implement algorithms in Quantum Machine Learning for Medical Image Analysis problems.

• Support advancing the state-of-the-art , including contributing to publications.

• Evaluating and analysing results.

• Fast prototyping and feasibility studies.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• Masters or Ph.D. in an engineering or science field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, Physics or Applied Math

• Background in Machine Learning or Quantum Mechanics.

• Hands-on coding skills and ability to quickly prototype software (C++/Python).

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English are required

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
