Engineering Technician Apprenticeship - Level 3

Are you due tofinish school or college and keen to gain some hands on experience?  Haveyou considered a career in Engineering and Manufacturing? 

Starting at theend of August 2024, as a Level 3 Advanced Engineering Technician Apprentice atSiemens Healthineers, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experiencein one of the world's leading healthcare companies. 

In this four year Level3 Advanced Apprenticeship, you will gain comprehensive knowledge andpractical skills in Engineering and Manufacturing in a world-class environment.Over time, you’ll take on more responsibility and accountability as yourskills, knowledge and expertise increase to set you up to excel in future ManufacturingOperations roles.

At our MagnetTechnology factory in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, we’ve been welcoming apprenticesfor many years and you will join a network of apprentices and early careerprofessionals that are highly valued across the business. Our site is at theforefront of manufacturing high-tech medical imaging equipment used byhealthcare professionals worldwide, and our Manufacturing Engineering team area vital part of this operation. As we plan for our move to our newpurpose-built factory in the next few years, our Engineering Apprentices havean important role to play in ensuring our future readiness. 

What do I need toknow about undertaking an Engineering Technician Apprenticeship?

  • As an Engineering Technician Apprentice at Siemens Healthineers, you will be working towards the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard, which is delivered in partnership with BMet.
  • You will join one of our teams withinManufacturing Operations, which is responsible for the production of our superconductingmagnets that are installed in MRI and other Medical Imaging Machines.
  • During your four year Apprenticeship with us,you will gain experience across all areas of production but will developspecialist skills and knowledge within one area.
  • You will be line managed by one of our Cell Leaders, and your training will be supervised by a qualified assessor. In addition tothis we have a good network of current Apprentices at different stages alreadypartway through their Apprenticeships with us.
  • Training will be in the form of block releaseto college in the first year, followed by day release for the second &third year. During years 2 & 3 you will gain more manufacturingexperience, as you spend more of your time on site. We will familiarize youwith our site and operations prior to you starting college in year one.
  • Depending on business requirements and yourprogression, there are opportunities to extend your learning to NVQ Level 3qualification and beyond, including Higher Education.

The intentionwould be that upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you would takeup a role within our Manufacturing Operations team.

Who are we lookingfor?

  • You should have or be working towards 4 GCSEsat Grade 5 (C) or above, which must include Maths, English Language and Science.
  • You should be studying towards thehigher-level Maths GCSE, desirably obtaining a B or higher.
  • You must be keen and have an inquiring mind,and be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for your work and our business.
  • You must be able to produce accurate work thatis to strict specifications. An interest in ‘making things’ is essential.
  • You should possess excellent communicationskills and interpersonal skills to enable you to work within a team focusedenvironment.

You will also needto meet the government's eligibility criteria: 

  • Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for the past three years or more prior to starting the course. 
  • Have left full time education when the apprenticeship you are applying for is due to start. 
  • Be aged at least 16 years old to meet government funding criteria.
