Job Description

This position is for an engineering assistant / drafter, who supports our local Siemens Engineering team to design and produce design documents for fire alarm, security, and building automation systems. Design documents produced include primarily floor plans, as well as submittal product data sheets, operation & maintenance manuals. The engineering assistant works with a team of design engineers under an engineering supervisor to assist in development design documents for projects.

Responsibilities

· 
Primarily responsible for modification, optimization and generation of scaled floor plans within AutoCAD for use in design on projects.

· 
Under direction of Engineer will place devices on floor plans for use in final design documents.

· 
Responsible for publishing and tracking project record documents.

· 
Responsible for update of as-built documents

· 
May assist with Engineering tasks such as material ordering, material tracking, drawing changes, printing hard copies, generation of operation & maintenance manuals

· 
May assist with modification of graphical user interface under direction of Engineer / Technician.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience

· 
Proficiency of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

· 
Proficiency with Computed Aided Drafting software, in particular AutoCAD is required.

· 
Knowledge of the construction environment and processes is preferred.

· 
Familiarity with drafting and engineering drawings standards is required.

· 
Associates degree is preferred

· 
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of professional principles and skills.

· 
Typically up to 2 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.

· 
Strong communication skills

· 
Strong self-motivator
