Who are we?
Siemens Motion Control in the UK is an integral part of Siemens Digital Factory Motion Control worldwide, providing technical solutions for the control of motors in many different applications.
In the UK we design and manufacture electronic inverters for motor control. Our award winning factory in Congleton has been around for over 40 years during which time it has gained UK and European wide recognition and is best in class in many areas.
The site is responsible for product development, customer services and medium volume manufacturing. Engineering and manufacturing know-how is supported by on site design and test laboratories along with state of the art production technologies and techniques.
What to expect:
Join our world class team at Siemens Motion Control and gain an Engineering Apprenticeship whilst combining college based learning with hands on practical experience rotating around key areas of our Congleton factory. College will be attended on a day release basis whilst back in the factory you will work alongside experienced colleagues who will help bolster your studies. In the last year of your apprenticeship you will complete a final placement working at Technician level in an Engineering or Manufacturing department.
What you'll achieve:
BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering
EAL Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering ( QCF )
· Engineering Practice - PEO 2 units
· NVQ 3 Pathway Testing Electronic Circuit
What you need to know:
Working Week: 36.25 hours per week, during some of the on-the-job placements and beyond you will be expected to do shift work e.g. 0600 until 1400 and 1400 until 2200.
Weekly Wage: Starting salary of £230.77 per week, (£12,000 per year)
What you need to join our team:
You will need 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above which must include Maths, English Language and a Science or Engineering subject. Level 2 in ICT is an advantage.
In addition we are looking for computer literate individuals who are capable of solving problems and working collaboratively as part of a team. Good communication skills and a passion for engineering should be evident. Knowledge of basic electronics would be an advantage
You will need a disciplined approach to timekeeping and attendance and a high level of motivation and the commitment to study and complete work in your own time.
Beyond the apprenticeship:
On completion of the apprenticeship and subject to a good training record this could lead to a full-time Technician position in manufacturing or engineering departments. Also the possibility of being sponsored through further or higher education.
