Job description

Siemens Rail Automation design, develop and install signalling systems for use on mainline and underground railways in the UK and overseas. The systems use a suite of products ranging from simple devices such as relays to high integrity, safety critical, complex processor based equipment. Part of delivery process involves demonstrating that the Systems are electromagnetically compatible will all other equipment/assets in their target environments. Often this will include demonstrating EMC with trains and electrification infrastructure.

We're looking for an enthusiastic EMC Engineer responsible for managing the Company’s EMC test facilities and the provision of EMC Engineering services to R&D and Project teams throughout the Company.

What are my responsibilties?

· Management of the R&D EMC and environmental test facilities
· Technical consultancy to design teams in R&D and the wider company for EMC and other related standards compliance areas
· EMC assessment and testing of products for use in railway environments
· Production of EMC control plans, technical files, environmental test plans and other related Project EMC and compliance documents

What do I need to qualify for this role?

· Comprehensive knowledge of EMC testing and compliance and/or a keen interest in developing a career in this area (essential)
· Good analytical skills, preferably gained through experience in product design and development (essential)
· Experience of using Mathcad or similar modelling / simulation tools
· Self-motivated and commercially astute, with leadership and communication skills
· Strong attention to detail
· Chartered Engineer, or desire to work towards this
· Background in RF Engineering
· Experience in LVD and Machinery Directives assessment.
· Customer facing
