The Electrification & Automation (E&A) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We are looking for an Experienced Electrical Engineer for our AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) DCS (Data Center & Semiconductors) department. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
The EA Business Unit of Siemens is looking for highly qualified and energetic Engineers for its Medium Voltage (4.16-38 kV) Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) Data Centers & Semiconductors department.
This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
The role will be hybrid, with flexibility to work in-office and from home.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Analyze Medium Voltage switchgear requirements from customers to develop detail design engineering essential for review and manufacture of switchgears.
- Prepare electrical drawing packages (including panel arrangements, nameplate schedule, schematic diagrams, communication drawings, three-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings and wiring diagrams) for factory manufacturing of the switchgear and customer documentation using CAD software.
- Work directly with project engineers to create product solutions meeting customers’ expectations in cost effective and timely manner.
- Work directly with the manufacturing teams addressing any challenges as they produce your designs.
- Initiate and support product as well as process improvements by cross team collaboration.

basic qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of proven experience working with the design/configuration electrical power distribution products and systems. Preference given to experience with switchgear.
- Strong working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage power distribution products with proven ability to share this knowledge with others.
- Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications regarding the application of protection and control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner.
- Ability to read, understand one-line and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements.
- Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands.
- Presently reside in the United States.
- An ideal candidate is detailed orientated, process driven and able to embrace a culture of quality.
preferred qualifications:
- A Masters Degree in Engineering is a plus; extra consideration if degree concentration is in the area of power systems.
- Proven ability to create, convert & modify drawings with AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base software.
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.
- Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear.
- Experience with Data Centers & Semiconductors (i.e. project, products, or end-customer)

- The pay range for this position is $72,400 - $124,100. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
