We now have an excitingopportunity for an experienced Power Electronics & Systems Engineer (R&D) to be based at the SGRE,Power ConverterR&D Centrein Keele, Staffordshire.

Based with ourPower Electronics and SystemsTeam in theFrequency ConverterDepartment, theplacement will be part of a multi skilledR&D team, covering competences within electrical engineering, power electronics, power system design and control,MATLAB based simulations, test & validation. In order to bring state-of-the-art turbine technology to a still more competitive market continuous improvement of our turbines is one of the cornerstones of our culture, and without compromising on safety and quality; time to market is one of our main priorities. Consequently, ourFrequency ConverterDepartment is at the forefront of the latest Direct Drivegenerator + Fully Fed convertertechnology.

What are my responsibilities?

This role is responsible for researching into new and emerging technologies. You will capture and document detailed requirements and evaluate potential technical solutions. You will undertake development of design solutions and liaise with suppliers to produce detailed technical specifications for procured items. You will undertake validation of components/equipment in the lab/wind turbines.

You will also be tasked with undertaking other duties as necessary including designing evaluations of new technologies.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

This role requires the right candidate to be educated to degree level in Electrical/Electronic engineering with specialisation in Power electronics. You have experience working withpower electronics/power systems/ control /generator design and will be a detail oriented individual who is accurate.

You will have a systematic approach to your work tasks and you plan your work robustly. You will also have a hands-on approach to your tasks, and you are comfortable with processes within a large organization. You thrive in a multicultural environment and possess excellent communication and English skills both orally and in writing
