The opportunity has arisen for a Product Design Draftsperson to join the Siemens Mobility team in Port Melbourne, Victoria. The Product Design Draftsperson will be an integral part of delivering the successful ongoing production for rail manufacturing within Siemens Mobility, with a particular focus on 2D design of point rodding for point layouts. As a member of the Port Melbourne engineering team this role will work collaboratively across signalling products departments and help to deliver local product design documents.

In this role, you will:

  • Be involved in all aspects of design, production and engineering, such as producing application engineering including bill of material, assembly methods, and special tooling requirements
  • local engineering change management through Teamcenter and SAP
  • Work closely with out supply chain to ensure successful designs for local and international market, including supporting other functions within the business
  • Design and draft the component under the supervision of the engineering design authority down to the fine details to satisfy the specified requirements of the customer
  • Configures the products according to the requirements or product change requests, as well as preparing design documentation

Shape the future of mobility with your qualifications and skills.

  • Certificate or Diploma of design drafting, or related studies is preferred
  • Knowledge of AS1100
  • Mechanical drafting experience is essential, in metal fabrication, sheet metal, machining metal, threads and welding designations
  • 2D and 3D experience is needed, such as AutoCAD or IntelliCAD, and NX or Solidworks experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required
