You’ll make an impact by:

  • Leading a passionate team of Fire Safety product development managers who are responsible for software development, hardware development, system tests, project management, regulatory compliance, and system architectures for modern Fire Safety products.
  • You will part of a team of like-minded leaders developing Fire Safety products in Fire Safety UL Headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.
  • Collaborating with other global locations in building the future platform for Fire Safety products.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the engineering department's strategic vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the company's overall strategy.
  • Supervise the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Allocate resources and manage project risks to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Lead and inspire a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Act as a role model and evangelist for modern product development practices (software and hardware).
  • Collaborate with other departments to align engineering efforts with business priorities and ensure cross-functional collaboration.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct periodic performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and personal growth.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, encouraging collaboration, and facilitating professional development.
  • Collaborate with executive management and other partners to understand business requirements and translate them into engineering initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting technical concepts and project updates in a clear and concise manner.
  • Represent the engineering department in meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Your Success is grounded in:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or engineering or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software development with strong understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in leading teams in a managerial capacity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
  • Experience working with teams from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Travel required for 5% of time for alignment with global partners.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Advanced technical degrees and relevant certifications
  • Hands-on experience with the SAFe Framework
  • Industrial automation / IoT / Cloud experience
  • Experience with hardware engineering

The pay range for this position is $138,100 TMR low – $236,800 TMR high and the annual incentive target that will be based on the position level. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
