Our Rail Infrastructure business is searching for a Digitalisation and Innovation Engineer! You will be a vital part of our digital skills team, leading various initiatives. Reporting to the Digitalisation Technical Team Lead, you'll be involved in all our digitalisation efforts, from streamlining internal operations to creating new revenue channels. Your role includes understanding engineering functions, focusing on low code/no code development, data analytics, and visualization. You'll play a key role in expediting application development, empowering our organization to create solutions swiftly, even without deep coding knowledge.

The role is based in Chippenham, and you’ll be in the office around 2 or 3 days per week, there may be some occasional travel and the days you’re not in the office, you’ll be equipped to work at home.

You’ll create impact by

  • Collaborating with customers to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Analysing and documenting user stories to clarify desired application functionalities.
  • Designing and maintaining robust data pipelines, architectures, and databases for scalability, performance, and security.
  • Utilising and developing low-code/no-code tools proficiently for building applications, collaboration areas, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Implementing user interface design to ensure a positive user experience while complying with data privacy regulations and company policies.
  • Contributing to developing data governance frameworks, conducting detailed testing before deployment, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for applications, workflows, and processes.

Your success will be grounded by

  • Proven experience in a technical field, perhaps from the Railway industry or at least Safety Critical environments
  • Expert knowledge of solution development within the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
  • Experience using data visualisation platforms such as Power BI & Tableau and an awareness of data governance and deployment pipelines.
  • Your knowledge and experience of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), environment governance and data pipelines
  • Mendix application development experience, and ideally relevant certifications in both Mendix and Microsoft
  • Demonstrated capacity for problem solving and outstanding written and verbal communication
