The Engine Integration group within R&D at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB (SIT AB) needs an engineer who will work with whole engine modeling (WEM) and the secondary air system (SAS) of our gas turbines.
The secondary air system refers to all the air that goes through the engine outside of the main gas path of the gas turbine, such as cooling air for turbine components. The Engine Integration group consists of 14 engineers who all work within different disciplines such as WEM, rotor dynamics, blade dynamics and acoustics, it is a broad group with many different competences.
The work within the Engine Integration group is connected to all the modules of the gas turbine (Compressor, Combustor and Turbine) and their respective departments, together we develop new products and improve our current products which includes the SGT-600, SGT-700, SGT-750 and SGT-800. Within the Engine Integration group, we also help answer customer questions, investigate field issues and support our sales, service and production departments. Furthermore, there is continuous work with technology and method development to ensure we are always pushing the boundaries of our products and work in efficient ways.
The challenge
· Calculating temperatures and displacements using our whole engine modelsCalculating mass flows and pressure losses in the secondary air system
· Evaluation and planning of engine and components tests
· Participation in R&D projects
· Participation in global efforts to share knowledge
· Programming, maintaining and development of our in-house calculation tools
· A large interest in heat transfer and fluid mechanics is vital for this position.
Who are you?
· You have a Master or bachelor degree in engineering related to heat transfer and fluid mechanics
· You have good knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics
· You like to cooperate with other disciplines to solve complex tasks where the quality of the whole is of the greatest importance
· Working in a structured way and always looking to improve both your own competence and your way of working
· Good English speaking and writing skills are mandatory and Swedish speaking and writing skills are a merit
