Data Analyst

Working within the Data Management team to support the data manager in implementing the Data Strategy with a view to improve the overall data quality. Undertake data analysis to provide an understanding of business process integration requirements. Ability to interpret the enterprise data model in order to assist with the implementation of the target data warehouse architecture. To perform these tasks communication and collaboration with a wide variety of stakeholders and technical experts is essential. Key to the role is the ability to analyse business needs and to ensure that these are captured accurately to provide a robust solution which adheres to the business objectives. Effective written and oral communication skills are required.

What are my responsibilities?

· Liaise with business and customers to understand their requirements.
· Effective elicitation, documentation and management of data requirements, via clearly written documents to ensure these requirements are accurately documented and the solution provided is aligned to business and customer objectives.
· Support the full IT delivery team by providing expert advice and guidance on the data requirements of a solution including in-depth knowledge of the business and system operations.
· Management of stakeholders and technical experts to ensure that all relevant parties contribute to and are communicated with throughout the data analysis process.
· Identification of risk and ability to manage and mitigate, within the remit of the role, are important to ensure that appropriate actions can be taken.
· Produce data requirements, including class diagrams and attribute definitions along with validation rules.
· Review test evidence to ensure that the business data requirements have been fulfilled. Support test phase by answering test queries in relation to data raised during testing.
· Work with data architects to resolve any enterprise data model issues.
· Work with development teams to ensure that solutions meet the data requirements
· Perform data analysis, report creation and support database design activities.
· Monitor and audit data quality
· Analyse and interpret complex data sets relating to the business.
· Ensure customer, industry and corporate standards, processes, procedures and policies are adhered to by the technical solution.
· Partake in peer reviews of documentation.
· Promote team working and provide advice and guidance to colleagues and business users on data issues.
· Able to plan and track own work against business/project deadlines.
· On occasion visit other sites and work on customer premises as required.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

SKILLS

· Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
· Knowledge of data analysis tools.
· Knowledge of data modelling, data cleansing, transformations and data enrichment techniques
· Effective stakeholder management (RACI).
· Have experience of interfacing with customers, suppliers and technical experts.
· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Have good knowledge of SQL.
· Effective time management and prioritisation of work load.
· Effective change management.
· Experience in using requirements engineering tools.
· Provide accurate estimates.
· Extensive Utilities experience is essential.
· Smart Metering experience is beneficial.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

· Educated to degree level or relevant business experience.
· Data Management accreditation is desirable.
