Reporting to the Commercial Project Director your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  1. Project Mobilisation
    1. Support the Commercial Project Director in the handover from the Tendering and Estimating team of the financial elements of a successful bid, creating the baseline budget and full set up in the SAP system.
  1. Project Forecasting and Reporting
    1. Report project actual and forecast spend to support Work Package Managers (WPM) and the Project Manager (PM) in the financial control and forecasting of their budgets.
    2. Analyse new project forecasts, developing a view on robustness, timing, risk and opportunity. Review and, if necessary, challenge with both WPM and PM before finalising.
    3. Maintain the P&L, balance sheet, order book and cashflow
    4. Working with other parts of the project team as necessary to prepare project reporting to the client and independent certifier where required
    5. Since you will be dealing with cost reimbursable contracts, ensure all project audit requirements are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
    6. Supporting / advising other commercial team members regarding process and financial governance
    7. Develop and maintain data-driven dashboards and reports to communicate key findings such as cost deviations to the Project Steering Committee and other stakeholders.
    8. Assure the foreign currency management on regular basis, mitigate and optimize detected risk exposure with aligned measures in timely manner during the execution phase.
    9. Ensure all project reports and forecasts are submitted on time, accurate, and are understood and approved, where necessary, by the Siemens Project and Alliance Management teams.
    10. Provide meaningful supporting commentary where required or necessary
    11. Enforcing compliance to standards, rules, and regulations – interacting with experts from Accounting, FPM, Tax, Treasury, P&O and Legal when required
  1. Month End
    1. Calculate and review, where necessary, project accruals 3rd party services, materials and subcontractors.
    2. Verify periodic costs to ensure month end position accurately reflects the financial position of the project.
    3. Support Commercial Project Director in validating month end performance for portfolio, including projects supported by other Project members within the team.
  1. Accounts Receivable
    1. Supervise the setup, submission and processing of Payment Claims towards customer and from nominated supplier and subcontractors, including certificates and invoices and all postings to the ledger.
    2. Actively monitor the payment cycle, in line with the bank account payment process of the client, ensuring any required actions are taken to maximize the cash position, chasing payments with customer where necessary
    3. On Target Cost/Cost reimbursable contracts, ensure timely and accurate provision of all supporting information to enable issuing, approval and payment of all actual costs claimed.
  1. Other Responsibilities
    1. Act as the independent conscience of the project ensuring the integrity of the financial status and forecast, escalating issues or concerns where necessary.
    2. Drive consistent steering actions to achieve the targets set by the business in terms of revenue, profits and cash, in line with internal regulations (FRG’s)

  2. All budgets and forecasts, together with key risks, issues and opportunities, are owned, approved and understood by all appropriate parties
  3. All submissions are accurate, robust and on time

  • You hold a Master’s degree in a commerce, finance, business administration or related fields of study.
  • Experience in accountancy
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong communicator with the ability to challenge and influence others
  • Desire and ability to work closely and develop productive relationships with both Finance staff other project functions
  • The ability to analyse and use data to add value to a process or activity
  • Be prepared to travel if required, occasional travel to project sites
  • Excellent language skills (written and spoken) in English are required. German language skills will be an advantage.
  • You have strong intercultural sensitivity and can work with teams and stakeholders from different countries and cultures, both internal and external.
