Automation Programmers create and provide complete programming packages to the project team. Programming packages include a sequence of operation, virtual points, pre-tested programming, and onsite functional testing for assigned projects within higher education and K–12 education facilities, data centers, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, high-rise buildings, and lab facilities. The objectives of building automation are improved occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, reduction in energy consumption and operating costs, and improved life cycle of utilities.


As an Automation Programmer, you will:

  • Write programs and virtual points for approved submittals using automated programming tools for large and complex automation projects
  • Provide post-sale assistance for programming labor estimating
  • Test programs prior to initial release for quality assurance
  • Create functional testing documents utilized in field commissioning 
  • Assist the Graphics Design team to incorporate dynamic point information into graphics
  • Collaborate with the Design Team to identify specification discrepancies and request clarification
  • Mentor, train, and provide technical assistance to other team members

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience programming HVAC systems and developing HVAC controls strategies
    • Mid-Level: 2+ years
    • Senior Level: 4+ years
  • Experience with Siemens or third-party systems which utilize block programming
    • Mid-Level: 2+ years
    • Senior Level: 4+ years
  • Proven electro-mechanical aptitude and ability to read and understand design and construction documents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • 6+ years of experience programming HVAC systems and developing HVAC controls strategies 
  • 6+ years of experience with Siemens or third-party systems which utilize block programming
  • 2+ years of experience with Desigo Automation Controllers (Desigo PXC4, 5 7)

  • The pay range for this position is $49,100- $106,000. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
