Job Description:
Position Overview:
Siemens Building Technologies is looking for candidates to engage in Procurement Electrical Estimator Trainee Program. This position is an entry level electrical estimator position to assist the zone electrical estimator with project installation cost development. The candidate would assist in project take offs of conduit and wire for building automation, fire alarm and security systems. The position is engaged in review of project installation methods and documents his/her activities according to standards established by the Building Technologies Procurement Organization. The position utilizes on-line tools and participates in subcontractor evaluation processes.
Responsibilities:
The candidate analyzes detailed job designs and specifications providing cost estimates for material and labor to be sourced externally for building automation, fire safety, and security electrical installation. Based upon these estimates, the candidate prepares/assists in development of RFPs and solicits pricing from the marketplace. The candidate would participate in negotiations with subcontractors, in conjunction with the local FPM or Zone Electrical Estimator, to establish project costs.
The candidate collaborates with procurement, sales, and engineering to understand and/or assist in developing the scope of work that will be awarded. From time to time the candidate visits job sites within the Zone and compiles additional background for his/her estimates.
The candidate will participate in various training courses and job shadowing as part of a development plan for the position. The training courses will be Siemens internal training courses and external third party training courses to develop an understanding of electrical estimating and how it impacts the project business. The candidate will be assigned to job shadow project employees on current projects to develop project experience and build relationships. The candidate will be expected to learn the National Electrical Code as it pertains to the project business along with the various state and local codes. The candidate will assist in maintaining Siemens databases that include market labor and material cost factors to drive a higher level of estimate efficiency. Those databases must provide a level of detail that is critical to support successful negotiations with subcontractors.
Requirements:
•High school degree with supplemental tech school or technical training is a must.
• 1-3 years of direct or relevant experience.
•Good verbal and written communication skills for contacts with inter and intra departmental personnel, as well as management.
•Computer skills are required; MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are a must.
•Demonstrated self-starter.
• 30% travel

Additional Skills:
•Knowledge of negotiation
•Ability to speak in front of groups
•Electronic technical school or electrical apprenticeship experience
•Additional experience in electrical installation or HVAC fields is a plus
•Experience using Accubid estimating software or Bluebeam software
