Job Description

Siemens Rolling Stock has established a new UK Bogie Service Centre in Lincoln. The new BSC will deliver high quality and predictable train maintenance to customers, it will initially focus on servicing bogies and wheel sets for the latest Siemens trains operating in the UK including Velaro Eurostar e320 high speed trains and Desiro City trains.

For this new centre, we are looking for an Project Accountant.

The Project Accountant is primarily responsible for providing management support to the Commercial Manager for all accounting activities and management reporting. Based in Lincoln and working as part of a very strong finance team.

The selected candidate also shares in the responsibility for general finance related duties and is expected to cover for the Commercial Manager in her/his absence.

Although this position will be based in Lincoln, it also supports the Traction Drives (TD) facility in Leeds which performs traction gearbox service, traction motor service, traction coupling service & traction spares supply plus traction convertor sales.

What are my responsibilities?

·  Coordination of month-end , quarter-end & year-end closing processes
·  Cost analysis against budgets and /or forecasts on a monthly basis - preparation of variance analysis reports
·  Inventory reconciliation and reporting through CORMAP
·  Governance work inclusive of workflow & GRIR
·  Preparation of monthly forecasts & annual budgets
·  Preparation of the commercial documentation for regular project review meetings ensuring accuracy of the commercial project data
·  Ongoing improvement of financial processes & procedures in the context of the job & financial activities
·  Shared involvement & support on aspects of financial controlling & reporting
·  Review of balance sheet & income statement with it corresponding reconciliations
·  Provide assurance of Siemens Guidelines and local GAAP in relation to accounting & financial reporting
·  Performance of internal and external audits as required
·  Fixed asset register & depreciation owner
·  NCC & risk analysis

What do I need to qualify for this job?

·  Part qualified CIMA or ACCA - keen to obtain the qualification
·  Good working knowledge of SAP
·  To demonstrate relevant & accounting experience preferably from a manufacturing environment background
·  Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, with excellent Excel, Word & Powerpoint skills - Visio would be an advantage
·  Solid accounting skills with ability to demonstrate an understanding & interpretation of key financial statements
·  Visionary with the ability to analyse company data to influence business decisions to support the business performance
·  Excellent communication & interpersonal skills - strong collaboration approach
·  Self-disciplined with strong time management & work independently abilities
·  Able to demonstrate initiative with flexible & proactive approach to work
·  Willingness to learn & develop
