Did you know we’re scrapping the CV? We believe skills can be developed, and potential can be nurtured. We’re not so interested in what you’ve done – we care most about who you are and what you can do. Your CV will still need to be attached but it will not be seen by a hiring manager until the selection process has been completed.

You will join a community of like-minded early career professionals where you will bond and grow with team-building activities and real problems to solve. You will be given responsibility for challenging opportunities which will help you succeed.

What can I expect?

We are recruiting highly motivated candidates to join our Project Management Apprenticeship Scheme who want to make a difference and develop their skills in the world of Engineering.

You will be joining the Managed Applications and Services business within Smart Infrastructure - responsible for delivering projects for electrical metering in transmission and distribution networks connections.

This will be a 3 year apprenticeship where you will complete the Level 4 Associate Project Manager standard.

Your learning will be supported throughout your programme by Siemens mentors and by one of our training partners who will be the apprenticeship provider.

As an apprentice, here is a taste of what you can expect:

Following your off-site induction week, you will immediately begin integrating into the Siemens community and embark on a series of departmental placements at our Rochester site.

As part of the programme you will complete the Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association of Project Management (APM).

You will also undertake your apprenticeship End Point Assessment in your final year.

Throughout the apprenticeship you will learn and develop your competences in areas such as:
  • Involvement in all elements of delivery from ideation through to customer implementation, working on the latest technologies.
  • Designing, configuring and testing electrical metering solutions for high capacity transmission connections.
  • Working with senior members of the delivery team as well as interacting with other parts of the business covering project delivery, proposals, sales and procurement.
  • Gaining skills working on various software packages and testing tools, as well as the engineering processes required to deliver complex solutions.
  • Identification and implementation of business improvements.
  • Analyse engineering problems related to equipment and systems or the causes of component failures and develop solutions.
  • Develop product documentation and deliver training to engineers.
  • Lead small to medium size projects that are assigned to you.
  • Support and perform Factory / Site Acceptance / Integration Testing procedures coupled with successful completion of customer witness testing requirements.
  • Undertake site installation and commissioning works.
What do I need to apply?

This apprenticeship requires a blend of disciplines and the ideal candidate will have a keen interest in electrical engineering and is also looking to develop in a role which will not only challenge them technically but also develop their project management skills with a view to becoming a Project Manager.

We are looking for future-thinking, innovative and inquisitive candidates who have achieved at least 5 GCSE's grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language as well as achieved, or be on track to achieve, 3 A Levels (or a Level 3 BTEC) at grade B or above, one of which must be a numerate subject.
