We are recruiting highlymotivated candidates to join our Electrical Technician Apprenticeship Schemewho want to make a difference and develop their skills in the world ofEngineering.

You will be joining theElectrification Automation business within Smart Infrastructure - responsiblefor delivering high voltage switchgear with its associated protection andcontrol systems and services into our UK customer base.

Part of being an apprentice atSiemens means you get to work on real life projects whilst being supported on aguided learning journey. This will be a 42-month apprenticeship where you willcomplete the Level 3 Engineering Fitter standard.

Your learning will be supportedthroughout your programme by Siemens mentors and by one of our trainingpartners who will be the apprenticeship provider.

As an Electrical TechnicianApprentice,hereis a taste of what you can expect:


  • Following your off-site induction week you willimmediately begin integrating into the Siemens community and embark on a seriesof departmental placements within Electrification Automation at our Hebburnsite.
  • As part of the programme you will complete a Level3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Youwill also undertake your apprenticeship End Point Assessment in your finalyear.

Throughout the apprenticeship youwill continue to learn and develop your competences in areas such as:

  • Wiring of assemblies in accordance with schematic drawingsand wiring diagrams for electricity transmission.
  • Prepare, crimp, terminate and loom wires and cablesin accordance with general arrangement, schematic and wiring diagrams.
  • Complete all wiring to customer specification.
  • Uploading configurations, creating test systems and testing substation protection and control systems across multiple industries.
  • Working within the Testing and Wiring Team, reporting to a Team Leader as well as interacting with other parts of the business covering project delivery, proposals, sales and procurement.
  • Gaining skills working on various software packages and testing tools, as well as the engineering processes required to help deliver complex solutions.
  • Identification and implementation of business improvements. 
  • Analyse engineering problems related to equipment and systems or the causes of component failures and develop solutions.
  • Lead small projects that are assigned to you.
  • Support Factory / Site Acceptance / Integration Testing procedures.
  • Assist with site installation and commissioning works.

    What do I needto apply?


    We are looking for forwardthinking, innovative and inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following:

    • You will have achieved at least 5 GCSE's grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language. Science / Engineering subjects are an advantage but not essential for this role.
