Job description
This business is entering its fourth year of underwriting therefore involvement in all aspects of the underwriting platform is necessary to take the portfolio into its intermediate phase. This includes management of the Executive Risks London portfolio, product development and providing thought leadership, as well as the underwriting of new/renewal business and developing, and maintaining, broker relationships.
The London underwriting platform will be directly responsible for underwriting North American and International business placed in the London Market. Must be team player, technically precise in underwriting and have effective communication and project management skills to work with all the internal stakeholders (Claims, Actuarial, Legal, Underwriting Management, Group Risk Management and Senior Management) that have a vested interest in this highly visible initiative
Experience:
· Several years experience of successful underwriting of Foreign Filer and International publicly listed Directors & Officers Liability and ancillary lines
· Strong relationship with distributions partners throughout the London Market and EMEA
Personal Competences:
· Accountability, team oriented, strong business acumen, communication skills (oral & written), self-starter, flexibility, time management, strong ethics
Managerial competences:
· Willingness to develop the competency skills needed to become a team leader
Required Education
· Bachelor’s degree from a University or related work experience
Key Duties and responsibilities
· Be a leading underwriter and key broker contact for the EMEA Executive Risks portfolio
· Successfully develop and execute the single risk D&O strategy for the London and EMEA market
· Work closely with RLH to deliver on, and adjust, if necessary, strategy and drive underwriting excellence across the Executive Risks line of business
· Use of your deep understanding of the London Market, its product offerings and competitive landscape to
· Achieve and exceed the financial targets (profitability, expense, premium) for this line of business while also making a positive contribution to the SCOR Specialty Insurance Americas results.
· Develop relationships with distribution partners throughout the London market and internationally and proactively work with them to seek new business opportunities on targeted companies
· Proactively manage the portfolio and make any necessary adjustments in the industry mix, attachment points and limits to ensure a long term, profitable book of business
· Contribute to the London underwriting unit’s financial targets/goals whilst also making a positive contribution to the SCOR Specialty Insurance EMEA results
· Assist, alongside the Actuarial Dept, in the furtherance of data analytics and rating model adjustments
· Willingness to travel for client and broker meetings as well as insurance conferences
· Operate within delegated authority levels
· Collaborate with other SCOR Specialty underwriters in the UK and EMEA to provide comprehensive ‘all lines’ whole account solutions where possible
· Keeps abreast of legal, regulatory and industry trends that may impact this line of business
