Job Summary:
The position reports to the VP, Treasury & Investments and has contact with various departments/areas, third party administrators and banks. The Statutory Accountant is responsible for performing various duties related to accounting and reporting of investments. This position will be responsible for monthly reconciliation and controls of the Company’s investments, fixed assets, limited partnerships and other complex assets.
The candidate will co-ordinate with third parties and be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date database of the corporation’s investment data. The candidate will possess a demonstrated level of investment accounting knowledge. The candidate will adhere to all internal accounting process and controls in order to maintain the accuracy and quality of financial information contained in financial statements. The candidate will be required to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The candidate will adhere to strict timelines and communicate clearly and concisely with colleagues and third parties.
Required experience & competencies:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
· 3 to 5 years of accounting experience and financial reporting
· Work experience with investment accounting (US GAAP, STAT and IFRS)
· Proficiency with a major general ledger system (SAP)
· Experience with Clearwater analytics, WINGS or other large investment accounting system a plus
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
· Strong ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
· Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
· Excellent written & oral communication with strong interpersonal skills.
· Ability to multi-task and stay organized.
· Familiarity with various investment asset classes, i.e. fixed, structured, equity, bank loans, etc.

Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $110,000 - $125,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. Key duties and responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting
· Timely completion of GAAP and STAT reconciliations for investments between subledger (Clearwater) and SAP. This includes journal entries, researching and resolving variances and ensuring completeness and accuracy of general ledger balances.
· Timely completion of IFRS reconciliations for investments between subledger (Dimension) and SAP. This includes journal entries, researching and resolving variances an ensuring completeness and accuracy of general ledger balances.
· Reconcile custodial records with asset managers and accounting managers for applicable portfolios, research and resolve and variances with proper support.
· Perform cash reconciliation and book manual journal entries, when necessary, with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation.
· Prepare and review GAAP, STAT and IFRS financial statement notes and schedules related to investment accounting in a timely manner.
· Maintain Limited Partnership log for capital calls, income, distributions, valuations and accounting.
· Monitor and analyze work performed by the team to develop more efficient procedures while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
· Review and maintain investment accounting policies and procedures to reflect changes in the business environment, investment activities, and industry best practices.
· Actively identify training opportunities to grow skills across the team.
· Oversee special projects related to investment accounting and reporting.
· Provide drivers for investment/variances to senior management.
Coverage & Support
· Coverage for team member absences.
· Provide support and assistance for audit process, internal controls testing, etc.
· Manage special projects and hands-on ad hoc requests outside the day-to-day operations.
· Support and enable other team members for completion of ad-hoc requests, special projects, and other duties.
· Any other duties as assigned to support the team’s present and future functions.
