Risk Control Construction Practice Leader

Job description

The key function of this role will be to perform risk assessment for Specialty Insurance Single Risks Construction clients. Handles geotechnical and construction risk inspections/visits/surveys for Civil infrastructure (with a strong focus on Tunnelling) and Industrial plants, writes reports on behalf of SCOR and conducts relevant in-house or external training/seminars. Develops and provides technical advice on tools and methods to support the Construction Underwriting staff. Manages Construction engineers (external consultants only at present, possibly also SCOR engineers at some point in the medium or long term).

 Experience: 
•   Civil Engineer with deep knowledge in Geotech / Heavy civils and tunneling
•   Strong field experience : Extensive experience in the Construction industry as Geotech Engineer / Method engineer / Consulting engineer
•   An experience in Insurance would be a plus

Language skills: 
•   English: fluent, mandatory. Main working language. 
•   Other languages can be helpful, the position being very international by nature

·  Manage SCOR Construction activities to provide adequate technical support to SCOR underwriters and insureds.
·  Conduct / participate in site visits on behalf of SCOR for Civil infrastructure (Tunneling, Bridges, Roads, Railways, etc.) and large Industrial Plant construction projects. Write internal or market reports.
·  Conduct internal training sessions for underwriters and seminars for customers on Risk Control topics.
·  Provide technical support to SCOR Underwriters for assessing the risk quality, loss estimates and potential risks accumulation, in coordination with Property and Energy Risk Control engineers where useful. 
·  Provide technical assistance to the other SCOR departments when required: Claims, Inherent Defects Insurance underwriting, Engineering treaties underwriting…
·  Provide support in establishing internal guidelines on Risk Control topics. 
·  Develop and enhance reports formats, risk gradings, 
·  Assist in continuous development of valuation tools, loss estimation models, report database and management tools
·  Develop and maintain a network of qualified and recognized risk control experts in the area, including partnership with specialized companies and freelance in certain fields of expertise. Manage all work orders, quality control of reports, and supervise invoice handling.
·  Provide help and support to some corporate insured clients to establish Risk Management programs.
·  Liaise with technical expertise groups (internal & external) on issues related to Construction risks.
