Job description

As the leader for all reserving metrics relevant to its US legal entities, the position will own technical direction of quarterly reporting for US legal entities and the Annual Financial Audits. The role will work with various stakeholders ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the proper actuarial data, modelling, controls, and governance is kept with regards to financial reporting.In addition to the role’s technical leadership responsibilities, the position will offer team leadership both within US Life Finance through the collaborate working with Finance teams as well as strong people leadership and development for team members.
· Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation (or equivalent)
· Must have 5+ years proven actuarial leadership, management experience, and experience with financial valuation, modeling, cash flow analysis in the insurance or reinsurance industry
· Strong knowledge of US Statutory and US GAAP reporting and analysis within the industry.
· Experience managing projects and effectively representing department at various meetings
· Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team member in an intellectually vibrant and commercially sophisticated environment
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, maintaining an agile mindset.
· Experience mentoring and developing team members
· Strong organizational & planning skills with ability to meet multiple competing deliverables and manage projects
· Ability to build & maintain relationships with a diverse group of colleagues throughout the SCOR Group
· Demonstrated ability to understand complex models and perform valuation, modeling, and analysis to deliver required results
· Demonstrated ability to identify and implement departmental processes and controls and ensure appropriately documented
· Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and relationship building.
· Proficient in actuarial software, database, and reporting tools
Required Education
· Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence
· Oversee the timely and accurate delivery for all SCOR US Life actuarial reporting and analysis for US Statutory, US GAAP, and US Tax
· Own US reporting and analysis of results with ability to communicate technical results to diverse audiences, including preparing and presenting reports to senior management and stakeholders
· Lead the US STAT and US GAAP portion of the annual financial audits with our external auditors and quinquennial audits with our State regulators
· Support the Appointed Actuary in issuing Actuarial Opinions and Certifications for asset adequacy analysis, Principle-Based Reserve analysis, X factor analysis and preferred mortality analysis
· Utilize expertise on regulatory reserve and collateral reporting to provide insights for US driven business initiatives such as legal entity optimization and capital & liquidity emergence
· Ensure that appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations, and documentation are maintained with respect to all valuation and projection processes
· Serve as the direct liaison with business unit functions for US reporting topics
· Share in the development of a team of actuaries, with a particular focus on mentoring a strong group of emerging leaders across the department
· Act as key resource for new developments in reserving issues, methods, and regulations
· Participate in the development and implementation of company-wide strategic initiatives and special assignments as required.
