Job description

Job Responsibilities/Department Description:

We are seeking a motivated scientist to support ongoing research and initiate new programs to identify and validate novel therapeutic approaches to treat rare immunologic or genetic kidney disorders within the Rare Disease Research department. The candidate will design, execute, document, and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments to understand the pathogenesis of glomerular and tubular diseases and the impact of therapeutic intervention; this is a hands-on, laboratory-based position. The successful applicant will communicate research results internally and externally through publications, patents, and presentations, and will collaborate effectively within a diverse team of scientists and clinicians to advance therapies through the drug discovery pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Develop in vitro and in vivo assays to study the pathogenesis and mechanisms of rare, immune-mediated glomerular and tubular diseases
·  Collaborate within Rare Disease Research and with scientific support platforms to champion projects from discovery into early clinical development
·  Record, analyze, and report experimental results
·  Provide scientific input and monitor external research and market trends

Basic Qualifications:

·  PhD in immunology, cell biology, physiology, or a related discipline and 2-5 years of postdoctoral experience

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Proven expertise in immunological kidney disorders
·  Strong cell culture and in vitro assay development skills, particularly in the areas of immunological and/or renal function
·  Proficiency with knockout, transgenic, or induced animal models of immune-mediated diseases and/or kidney disease
·  Ability to work with automated liquid handlers and bioinformatic tools to analyze large data sets would be highly desirable
·  Excellent data management, writing, and presentation skills
·  Ability to work both independently and as part of a large, collaborative team
