We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate to join our cancer immunotherapy focused on the discovery of novel anti-cancer agents. This is a permanent position. The preferred starting date is 1 March.

You will be a member of the Cancer Immunotherapy Department 3 located at the Roche Innovation Center Zurich, working in a team of approximately 20 scientists, research associates, PhD students and Postdocs to evaluate candidate therapies in state-of-the art molecular, cellular and in vivo pharmacology laboratories.

The CIT-3 subgroup B group focuses on the identification and validation of novel targets, the development of pharmacological assays and the identification/validation of biomarkers for cancer immunotherapy in order support the development of a drug from discovery to clinical trials. We are using complex primary cell culture models, but also establishing cellular high and medium throughput assays to assess the therapeutic efficacy and mechanism of action of our antibodies.

Core tasks and responsibilities:

As part of a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative team, you will

·  Establish cellular assays for assessing novel targets and characterize novel molecules
·  Independently plan, execute in-vitro and ex-vivo experiments
·  Analyze and interpret data with Flowjo and GraphPad Prism, Cytobank and R are optional
·  Operate in close collaboration with other Research Associates, PhD students, Postdocs and Scientists within and across different teams
·  Present and discuss experimental data at Group, Department and Project meetings
·  Regularly update the eWorkbook with protocols and results from performed experiments
·  Contribute to the writing of research documents, reports and publications

We are looking for a candidate trained in the field of immunology with at least 2-3 years of experience, reliable, detail oriented and self-motivated.

For this position, we expect the following qualifications:

·  BSc/MSc in a life science discipline (e.g. cell biology, immunology) or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (Roche apprenticeship program is a plus).
·  2-3+ years of experience in a research lab.
·  Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be a plus.
·  A strong background in sterile cell culture is essential.
·  Proficient and hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology methods (RNAi, qRT-PCR, stable line generation, western blotting)
·  Experience in compound screening in cell-based assays using a variety biochemical methods (Western, ELISA, ELISPOT), and technologies such as multicolor flow cytometry (FACS, Operetta, ImageStream)
·  Familiarity with standard lab equipment and IT tools is required.
·  Ability to conduct independently routine experiments
·  Ability to communicate with a flexible, efficient and proactive approach
·  Ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team
·  Organized and detail oriented
·  Self-motivated and committed to getting the job done within tight deadlines
·  Interest in working in a multidisciplinary and multinational environment

Very good oral and written communication skills in English are required
