R&I Internship - Research of alternative materials for jewelry products or watch movements

Job description
MISSION
We are looking for an intern starting in February 2025 for a period of 6 months to develop material selection procedures that meet the new challenges of environmental preservation. These materials, selected through a numerical and experimental approach, will be integrated into functional jewelry or watch systems.
RESPONS I BILITIES
In close collaboration with the Tribology team and under the responsibility of your internship supervisor, you will be responsible for the following missions:
· Bibliographical research and state of the art on the targeted systems;
· Development of a FE model for one of the systems;
· Design of tests and sample holders if necessary;
· Surface characterization (optical and topography instruments);
· Perform tests on a tribometer;
· Results Capitalization;
· Establishment of a report explaining the approach and the results;
· Presentation of the results within the team and R&I;
· All or part of project management.
PROFILE
You are a Master-level engineering student with strong background in mechanical design, FE simulation (Ansys, Abaqus), surface science and surface characterization (optical and topography instruments).
Able to successfully conduct an experimental campaign and analyze the obtained results.
You have a particular interest in jewelry, watchmaking and innovation.
Dynamic, organized and autonomous, you have a good ability to summarize and are proactive.
With good interpersonal skills, you demonstrate writing skills and analytical rigor.
Based mainly in our R&I hub located in Microcity, Neuchâtel, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other research sectors within our department.
