Lead AI Engineer

Richemont owns some of the world’s leading luxury goods Maisons, with strengths in jewellery, fine watches & premium accessories, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Montblanc, Vacheron Constantin, etc. 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead AI Engineer to join our dynamic Data Science & AI team within the Group Data Office. This pivotal role will report to the Head of Data Science and will specifically lead and manage our AI engineering team based in the Lisbon office, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.

You will be responsible for: 

• Working closely with the Head of Data Science on strategic planning and resources allocations for the Lisbon AI engineering team. 

• Serving as a crucial bridge between the Geneva and Lisbon team members, ensuring seamless communication, knowledge sharing, and project alignment. 

• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of AI engineers in the Lisbon office, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and high performance. 

• Overseeing and guiding the team in designing & developing complex ML&AI-driven approaches to solve business problems, including natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, time series analysis, recommendation systems, etc. 

• Overseeing the team's efforts in leveraging Generative AI to build innovative multimodal RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems and Agentic AI solutions. 

• Collaborate effectively with the AI Product Owner to translate evolving business needs into technical requirements, fostering a strong product mindset. 

• Championing the exploration of new AI techniques and technologies to drive innovation across Richemont, guiding the team's implementation. 

• Facilitating collaboration between the Lisbon AI engineering team and Group Technology to ensure successful solution delivery. 

If you have: 

• Master's or PhD degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related Engineering discipline. 

• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in Data Science & Machine Learning, with a proven track record of developing and deploying machine learning models. 

• 6+ years of professional experience in Python programming language and data-related libraries. 

• 2+ years of professional experience in Google Cloud Platform or other cloud platforms, including experience with cloud-based machine learning services. 

• Hands-on experience in deploying generative models for various applications. 

• 2+ years of experience in a leadership or team lead role, managing and mentoring AI/ML engineers. 

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, guide, and develop a technical team. 

• Autonomy, proactive & curious with a strong sense of ownership. 

• Proficiency in English is a must: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including top-level management, and to facilitate cross-team collaboration.
