Laureus - Governance & Compliance Officer (2 year FTC)

Laureus combines the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation (LS4G), the Laureus World Sports Academy and Ambassadors Programme (AMA) and the Laureus World Sports Awards (LWSA) to form a unique organisation that uses the inspirational power of sport as a force for good.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Compliance and Governance:

Drive, facilitate and monitor the implementation of an effective Compliance Management System with regards to but not limited to corruption and fraud prevention, anti-money laundering and sanction lists within LWSA, Laureus SfG Foundation and related entities according industry standards and best practice corporate compliance program requirements and in accordance with the Joint Venture (JV) contract, local laws and regulation

This includes ensuring:

·  Implementation and maintenance of clear standards of business and ethical conduct
·  Providing and securing transparency with regard to existing and possible compliance risks within LWSA and Laureus SfG Foundation
·  Raising compliance awareness on all management levels ensuring a vivid compliance culture within the LWSA and Laureus SfG Foundation
·  Representation of compliance interests and measures in the management team; especially participating in the Laureus Board, the LWSA  JV Board Meetings and the Laureus SfG Trustee meeting
·  Close cooperation with the local management team
·  Effective unit governance structure and procedures for compliance oversight and management
·  Communications and training on compliance requirements
·  Compliance risk assessments, monitoring and reporting
·  Timely, effective and consistent applied issue resolution process
·  Independently oversee compliance of/within the group, independent reporting to LWSA JV Management where applicable

 

Legal:

·  Provide proactive legal advice to LWSA- and SfG Foundation management with respect to all relevant compliance aspects especially concerning purchased services of event-agencies and consultants
·  Structuring of business models and involved risks - mainly in view of possible compliance and governance risks
·  Local antitrust and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) contact person; data protection coordinator

 

Ideal Profile:

 

·  Advanced degree in law, qualification to practice law and bar admission in the EU
·  Experience working in the Charity or Sports sector is an advantage 
·  Knowledge and experience in legal, internal audit, accounting, quality assurance or similar
·  Knowledge of FCPA, UK Bribery Act and other applicable anti-corruption laws, regulations and industry and best practice
·  Previous relevant experience, sufficient stature within the organization to exert influence and credibility
·  Solid basis of relevant legal general conditions
·  Demonstrated integrity within entity/business unit and detailed knowledge of industry standards and best practice developments
·  Fluent in spoken and written English and other EU language
·  Management and leadership skills, including the ability to articulate company standards and expectations as outlined in the relevant policies and codes, and ensure that these are applied consistently to the local situation
·  Successful performance and implementation of industry standards within a challenging and opposing environment
·  Strong communications, presentation and facilitation skills
·  Analytical thinking and results-oriented
·  Strong project management capability
