Trainee Buyer - Student Placement Year

Starting Salary £19,000
Start Date: June/July 2018
Assessment days will be taking place in January/February 2018

Primark is growing and we have an opportunity for a  Trainee Buyer - Student Placement Year  to join Primark House based in  Reading.  You will be working closely with and supporting the Buyer or Assistant Buyer in the day to day running of your department while aiming to maximise sales and profitability.

Your role will support and have involvement in the following business areas.

Sales and Commercial Focus
Having an interest in magazines and fashion publication is a plus as you will be identifying trends and putting forward ideas. Accuracy is important for this role as you will be in control of orders by making sure they are inputted, updated and amended on the system.

Range
You will be involved in identifying and developing key styling, colour palette and range content. To do this you will use a variety of sources from trade fairs to fashion publications to pick up key trends in the market and season.

Develop and Source Products
Great rapport building skills are needed as you will be in regular contact with suppliers in relation to attending meetings to raising orders. You will manage all paperwork associated with delivering the products.

Samples and Specifications
Part of your role will involve managing product specifications and maintaining high quality standards. This includes preparing size specifications all the way up to coordinating samples for press requests.

Operating Standards
You will always be aiming to deliver against company expectations and staying aware of the importance of our CSR policy.

This is a great entry level position for someone who has a qualification in Buying or a similar discipline or has experience working as a Buying Assistant in a fast paced environment. We have lots of really talented people working for Primark, but we're always on the lookout for more due to our mega expansion plans.
