Job Purpose:
To undertake the controlled and formal assessment, familiarisation awareness and where applicable, remedial training and testing of employees and agency workers to operate MHE equipment whilst on site. To maintain compliance with R.T.I.T.B standards, guidelines and best practice to ensure the Depot’s status as an accredited training centre.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver a full suite of accredited MHE training (basic and refresher) to include PPT, CBT, RT or other equipment the Islip site may use together with FLT battery changing.
· Create training plans to ensure all permanent, temporary and agency colleagues are refresher trained within appropriate timelines.
· Ensure trained personnel are entered onto the training register and issued relevant MHE certificates in a prompt and timely manner.
· Support the operation to proactively identify trainees whose actions/behaviour impact on safety, quality and productive performance.
· Ensure regular FLT audits and compliance inspections are conducted and employees challenged about unsafe practices.
· Review all accident and near miss reports involving fork lift trucks, assisting line management and EHS personnel in carrying our efficient accident investigations and make recommendations to prevent recurrence where necessary
· To ensure all personnel are aware of their health, safety & environmental responsibilities through the provision of coaching and training as appropriate
· To support the Company Substance Misuse policy with regard to on-site drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Company procedure
· To ensure all changes to policies and procedures, or any other change activity is fully implemented and supported throughout the change process
· To lead employees to create a culture which encourages safe behaviour and environmental best practice
· Drive a safety culture whereby each team member operates with safety as the primary concern, and whereby safety challenges to colleagues are encouraged and developed Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
· Minimum 3+ years in Logistics industry
· Current holder of RTITB instructor certification
· Strong proven track record of working within a logistics / supply chain training function
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships at all management levels
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to highlight and challenge relevant issues
· Motivated self-starter
· Strong team player who is confident and personable
· Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively
· Insightful, accurate and timely management reporting
· Workload planning
· Problem Solving
· Can execute with composure under pressure
· Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills
· Proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels.
