Customs Analyst - Spain
Purpose of role: To manage all aspects of the day to day import/export activities of Primark in Spain
Reports to:Customs Operations team leader - Europe
Location:Iberia Office – Gran Via Madrid
Key Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the day to day operational aspects of Primark’s Spanish Customs declarations and highlighting any potential of risk or irregularities to the Customs Operations Manager – Europe
•Ensuring all Import/Export and Transit declarations are submitted accurately and to the Spanish Customs authority in a timely manner and being the first point of contact for the Customs authority.
•Build and maintain relationships with the government authorities, FMs and other external stakeholders, including customs and para-customs authorities and any other Administration that could be involved in the importation/exportation of goods (governmental, autonomous or local)
•Represent the customs function at meetings and conference calls as required; both internal and external. For example key line meetings with suppliers and buyers and meetings with customs authorities and any other authority involved in the day to day import/export activity of the company
•Ensure all data and any documentation required to enable efficient Customs clearance are obtained in a timely manner and to manage any missing data or documents effectively
•Ensure any preference certificates or statements of origin are present to enable Primark to take advantage of the lower rates of duty offered through one of the European Unions preference agreements
•Liaise with relevant Customs authority in the first instance and then with the inbound destination team to position containers in the depot where physical inspection has been requested by the Customs authorities
•Working with the Customs Compliance and Audit team, ensure all regulatory certification requirements for that jurisdiction have been completed to allow the import declaration to be submitted in a timely manner e.g PDD, CITES, ADD etc
•To monitor the deferment accounts usage and the various guarantees and take the necessary action to increase or decrease the limits as and when required
•To run and distribute management reports to key internal and external stakeholders as required
•To keep up to date with legislative changes that may impact Primark’s customs operations
•To assist the Customs Compliance and Audit Manager with the annual Spanish audit and other audits and inspections as and when required, including internal customs audits
•To act as the first point of escalation for all stakeholders in terms of customs operations
•To proactively engage colleagues with new initiatives to improve processes
•Ensure strict standards are maintained
•Assist the Customs Operations Manager – Europe with other work as required and ad-hoc projects
•To manage the ICT process for Spain and the Canary Islands process.

•Some knowledge of EU and National Customs Regulations
•Some knowledge of customs operations is desirable but not essential.
•Good Excel skills and good experience of other Microsoft Office programmes, for example, PowerPoint, Access, Word, etc.
•Experience of SIV and TariffTel and/or any other IT system that deals with customs as Taric or any other
