R&D scientist

Your Role:

A new and exciting opportunity has opened in Merck’s Microbiome products department in Jerusalem for an R&D Scientist. We are looking for a highly motivated biologist who will join our versatile team of scientists. In this role you will develop innovative research products and tools for the research community. Your responsibilities will include performing new product ideation, designing, and executing experiments, and leading the projects according to defined objectives. You will be expected to conduct literature search and reviews, write workplans and produce related documents (SOPs, MMFs, product data sheets). You will be encouraged to actively participate in internal and external department meetings to learn from and also to share your knowledge and experience with others.  

Who You Are:

·  Ph.D or M.Sc in life science (M.Sc must have at least 3 years experience in the biotech industry).
·  Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, or equivalent fields.
·  Must have skills:
·  At least 3 years experience in microbiology or cell culture techniques.
·  Experience in molecular biology.
·  Advantageous skills:
·  Experience in microbiome research including samples preparation to extract genomic DNA, NGS library preparation, qPCR, metatrancriptomics.
·  Experience in working with RNA including transcriptomics, sRNAs, single cell RNA sequencing
·  Experience in protein expression and purification and/or enzymatic reactions
·  Experience in imaging techniques
·  Experience in fermentation
·  Highly motivated, well organized and able to work independently and as part of a team.
·  Good interpersonal and communication skills.
·  High level English (high professional level) and Hebrew.
