Job description

We are currently looking for three (3) Warehouse Team Leads to support our Contract Logistics business at our Milton distribution center.

Your Role

The position is responsible for the safe, high quality, and productive delivery of 3PL logistics services to our internal and external customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Follow standard warehouse practices and work instructions required to maintain high levels of inventory and location accuracy
  • Asist Supervisor to delegate tasks to warehouse employees
  • Train new hires and agency associates
  • Act as a liaison between management and warehouse employees
  • Establish team priorities and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Follow standard warehouse practices and work instructions required to maintain high levels of inventory and location accuracy. Documents and identifies all discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Accurately complete routine documentation, such as pick sheets, manifests and unload lists 
  • Perform a variety of physically demanding general labour duties according to standard work instructions, such as manually loading and unloading goods from a trailer
  • Capable of heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Capable of repetitive work including bending, twisting and reaching, following safety procedures
  • Demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in the execution of standard warehousing processes such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, checking and loading customer orders and products, value added processing and sub-assembly in accordance with client specific training as applicable, to ensure deadlines are met
  • Participates in process-specific training and adhered to all work instructions and guidelines established by KN to comply with regulatory standards such as ISO and GxP
  • Demonstrates and maintains a skill set capable of operating a variety of equipment used in a traditional warehouse environment. Examples include but are not limited to: scanners, computers, scales, pallet jacks and a variety of motorized material handling equipment such as forklifts, clamps, power jacks, pickers and reach trucks
  • Follows all company safety, security and housekeeping protocols. Respects customer and company property and equipment
  • Promotes a safe work environment and ensures compliance with all Company/ HSE safety, security and housekeeping policies and protocols; respects customer and company property and equipment and support 
  • Proactive in accident & incident prevention and fills out the applicable reports promptly and accurately when required
  • Strives to increase personal knowledge and shares work knowledge with less experienced staff
  • Demonstrates initiative and responsibility in all tasks in support of department and business goals
  • Supports, and personally contributes to, the company’s continuous improvement philosophy
  • Responds positively towards changing business parameters and supports peers and the leadership team
  • Employee maintains an acceptable attendance record and is available to work periodic overtime and a variety of shifts in order to meet the requirements of the operation
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Skills and Experiences

  • 2+ years' experience working in a Warehouse/Distribution Centre
  • Experience in leading teams will be considered an asset
  • Direct experience with distribution centre processes required (receiving, picking, packing, shipping, returns, value added processing and sub-assembly)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer orientation and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks and prioritize work
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Valid material handling equipment (MHE) license (i.e. counter balance, reach truck, order pickers)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of warehouse operations and cost structures
  • Knowledge of and compliance with health and safety standards
  • Knowledge of various production and quality systems (GxP, ISO, Document Control, Lean, TPS, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Warehouse Management System and proficient computer skills and the ability to learn new software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
