Job Description
The Overland Manager will lead and develop the Overland team to ensure best in class service to our customers. They will also ensure that he department operates to “Best in Class” quality standards and in an environment of conscious improvement.
Your tasks and responsibilities
· Responsibility for all the staff within the freight operation including all aspects of people management , grievances, disciplinarians, recording of holidays, absence management, training, records and certificates.
· Managing the day to day operations in a busy and faced paced freight department.
· Identifying opportunities to increase the profitability of the Overland department by targeting new customers and/or increasing business with existing customers.
· Managing the relationship with carriers/hauliers/subcontractors and third parties.
· Management of FSL (accruals, deferrals, BS, Neg Log).
· Develop in depth knowledge of all aspects of the role to ensure full ownership.
· Escalation point for customer challenges and issues, respond to all queries in a timely manner with accurate and complete information
· Maintaining and/or implementing good working practices & procedures to ensure that the department run efficiently
Your skills and experience
· 3 + years' experience in a similar role
· Freight forwarding industry certification and multi modal freight & logistics knowledge
· Proven management people skills and the ability to motivate employees to higher levels of performance
· Used to work Maintaining and/or implementing good working practices & procedures to ensure that the department is efficient and customer focused
· Excellent communication skills and ability to co-ordinate and manage the internal comms policy
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
