Team Leidos which includes Kuehne + Nagel as the Storage, Distribution and Freight Delivery Partner took over the MoD's Logistics Commodities Services Operation in August 2015. In order to support the MOD Contract and other opportunities within the public sector, the Kuehne + Nagel Military & Government Business Unit was set up within the UK Contract Logistics Division.

The working environment based in Longmoor, Hampshire, is responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection, repair, calibration and documentation of all Loan Pool and Unit equipment that is held in support of K+N. All activity is to be carried out in accordance with Manufacturer and/or current MoD technical publications/regulations and legislation.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• To service, maintain, inspect, repair, calibrate and document all Loan Pool and Unit held equipment held in support of K+N Support Centre activity in accordance with Manufacturer and /or current MoD technical publications/regulations and legislation
• Responsible for managing and coordinating the examination and calibration of all Unit lifting and recovery equipment and ladders
• On receipt of AF G1045 (Job Indent) raise and issue AF G1084 (Job Card) to workshop supervisor for repair, service, maintenance tasks. On completion of tasks maintain and update on-line spreadsheets and hard copy records
• Prepare and present all equipment under his/her control for examination by external bodies as required
• Identify, raise and submit demands for workshop spares/material /modification kits
• Identification, investigation and to raise equipment / material defects failure reports
• Maintain equipment modification register and ensure Engineer Loan pool and Unit equipment/material is in date to latest Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP) modification and General Instruction
• Maintain on-line registers with regard to staff, SHEQ and associated inspections
• Operate workshop machinery e.g. Press/Lathe/Milling/Drilling Mc
• To update and maintain equipment documentation, as per current regulations / work based instructions (WBIs)
• To complete workshop administration and weekly workshop housekeeping tasks as required
• Ensuring that equipment / machinery First & Last Parade inspections are carried out before & after use
• Complete & maintain workshop risk assessments and COSHH assessments

Your skills and experience

• City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
• Has a current ADLEE certificate and /or is qualified as a Lifting Equipment Examiner (LEE) – or the civilian equivalent
• IT literate with a very good understanding/ knowledge of operating MS Excel, Word software programmes
• Risk Assessment & COSHH trained
• Sound understanding of Health & Safety and Fire regulations
• All applicants must be cleared to SC level
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Good Leadership skills
• Self-Motivated with the ability to work individually or as part of a team
• Customer Focused
• Considers and Validates facts before making decisions
• Reliable and committed to attending work on time
• Be physically fit and able to move awkward/heavy loads with and without assistance
• A flexible approach towards tasks and hours
