Job description
Reporting to the Airfreight Manager the successful candidate will ensure that customer freight is transported in a safe, professional and timely manner.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
· Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks which should include water, oil levels, tyres, lights and any other visible defects
· Adhere to all tachograph legislation
· Use satellite messaging system, Sat Nav system and map reading skills accordingly to ensure deliveries and collections are made in a timely manner
· Be able to safely open and close all different types of trailers for loading and unloading purposes
· Have a good general understanding of load securing e.g. strapping, roping, sheeting, chains etc.
· Take and adhere to daily work instructions from the transport department
· Whilst carrying out collections and deliveries, ensure that the paperwork corresponds with the consignment which has been loaded, when and where possible. Any discrepancies found must be recorded on the documentation and communicated to the transport office immediately. All documentation for deliveries should be signed for by the customer
· When deemed necessary, aiding in the completion of other departmental work to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the department as a whole to ensure customer service, internal or external, is continually maintained
Your skills and experience
· Fully conversant with all aspects of air freight procedures
· Ability to work to demanding deadlines
· Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
· Computer literate
· Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team is essential
· Operational warehouse experience preferable
· Class 2 licence is essential
