Database Administrator - PostgreSQL

Job description

We are strengthening our team of Database Administrators with professionals of non-Oracle databases.

Your Role

You will be part of our Global Database Team, and work with non-Oracle databases, with strong focus on PostgreSQL, of which you will be the main expert. Besides the daily operation, you will always participate in interesting projects, e.g. upgrade of databases, migration from non-standard to standard databases.

Your Responsibilities

·  Take over the conceptual design and the creation of PostgreSQL database installations by combining requirements from software providers and our existing company standards.
·  Support the development teams both in operational and strategic issues and consult our project teams in the area of database design and usage.
·  Be responsible for the stabilization, optimization and further development of our PostgreSQL database landscape.
·  Develop and document operational concepts and automate standard procedures.
·  After getting familiar with our environment you will participate in our 24/7 on-call duty rotation.
·  Further development of standards in cooperation with the architects as well as adaptation of service descriptions. 

Your Skills and Experiences

·  Multiple years of practical experiences in the operation of PostgreSQL servers in enterprise infrastructure environments.
·  Ability to self-dependently operate error and performance analyses.
·  Knowledge in at least one scripting language as well as in the creation of Ansible playbooks.
·  Experience with other database products such as MySQL or MSSQL is desirable and experience with Oracle databases would be beneficial.
·  Strong communication skills and service-oriented working style.
·  Proficient language skills in English (speaking and writing).
