Ready for the next step in your career? We are currently looking for a Customs Tariff Specialist to join our team in Mississauga, ON.

Your Role

-The Customs Tariff Specialist works as a member of the National Customs Tariff Support Unit. -Provides support to customs business units across Canada by working in various aspects of customs compliance, with specialized emphasis on Tariffs (HS Classifications, Duty/Surtax/SIMA, Tariff Treatment Determination, FTA qualification/analysis). -He/she performs the duties of the role by exercising his/her judgment based on a detailed knowledge of Canadian customs rules, regulations, policy directives and in accordance with Kuehne + Nagel company procedures.

Your Responsibilities

·  Review and update of HS classification codes to client databases Tariff opinions / preparing requests for CBSA Advance rulings;
·  Free Trade Agreement qualification analysis (NAFTA, CETA, others)
·  Free Trade Agreement certificate solicitation and/or maintenance
·  Determination of tariff treatment based on documents/information supplied
·  Trade compliance review and analysis – client driven and/or generated by the CBSA, B2 Adjustments ; Blanket B2s
·  Liaise with CBSA and other relevant government departments
·  Assist clients with appeals/redress and voluntary disclosures to the CBSA
·  Handling and resolving customs and trade related inquiries received via RT ticket system
·  Customer service and support
·  Assisting the manager or team lead in any special projects
·  Additional duties that may be assigned to you by the Company. 

Your Skills and Experiences

·  Minimum 3 years in customs brokerage or customs compliance role
·  Customs Compliance with special emphasis on tariffs (HS classification, Tariff Treatment, Duty, etc)
·  Customs Act & Regulations, Customs Tariff & Regulations, CBSA Policy Directives (D-Memos)
·  General Customs Brokerage operations
·  Proficient in MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook)
·  Customs system, CargoWiseOne knowledge an asset
·  Post-secondary diploma/degree (supply chain and logistics preferred)
·  CCS Designation preferred (or must be willing to achieve within 2 years of employment)
·  Good communication skills, both verbal and written
·  Ability to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous tasks.
·  Demonstrates strong networking and interpersonal skills and professionalism to deal with all levels of personnel
·  Demonstrates ability developing and using relationships to facilitate accomplishment of goals 
·  Must have good problem solving skills and be able to quickly identify, define and resolve problems
·  Very organized / Methodical
·  Approachable, Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
·  Team Player
