Job Description:
The Warehouse Solutions Specialist provides warehouse design solutions that specifically involve, but are not limited to, the areas of warehouse layout, equipment specification, storage systems and procedures, material handling methods and processes and operational staffing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design warehouse layouts to optimize storage utilization through inventory analysis and assessment of storage applications.
• Design warehouse processes to optimize labour and equipment requirements using work measurement (labour standards) methodologies.
• Utilize proprietary warehouse design and pricing tools in solution and pricing development.
• Read and comprehend customer RFP/Q/I's to identify solution requirements and any additional data and information required to develop the solution.
• Conduct site tours of customer or existing operations to gain complete understanding of requirements.
• Analyze warehousing scenarios to develop optimized solutions and pricing for new business ensuring solution is aligned to customer requirements.
• Develop detailed Concept of Operations (COO) documents/presentations and participate in customer presentations.
• Participate and support start-up planning of attained new business including developing vendor RFQ's and justification for capital investments and coordinating activities with vendors.
• Ensure that new tools and technologies are operationally understood prior to introduction, providing training if required.
• Develop process flow analysis to capture current operations and identify process improvements, consulting on continuous process improvement projects for specific customers.
• Manage concurrent projects.
• Provide solution peer review for Solutions Engineering team and coaching and mentoring to Jr. Engineering resources as required.
• Other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time by the Company.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2 – 6 years of logistics experience in 3PL environment preferred with focus on Retail/FMCG sectors.
• Work measurement (labour standards) experience.
• Facility Design (AutoCAD computerized facility design & layout).
• Six Sigma Certification and LEAN program methodologies preferred. Skills and/or Experience:
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially Excel and Access.
• Knowledge of common warehousing solutions for operations ranging from pallet-in/pallet-out to high volume each picking.
• Knowledge of common warehousing IT systems and technology including WMS, RF, Pick-to-Light, etc.
• Understanding of storage and material handling equipment and applications under various processes.
• Excellent written/oral communication skills.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Experience with Lean and Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
