Air Import Gateway Supervisor
Your Role
To support efforts to service the air import product at the direction of the gateway manager. To lead and direct work done by gateway staff in terms of quantity, quality, and timeliness. To assist and support the gateway manager as directed to serve air import destination stations throughout the region and nation and origin stations throughout the world. To positively display and project the company’s culture. To help foster positive professional relationships with air carriers and other transportation service providers. To uphold Kuehne + Nagel’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures.
Your Responsibilities
Gateway Services:
o At the direction of the gateway manager oversee the work of the regional or national air import gateway staff:
o Prepare daily gateway deconsolidation plans.
o Effect gateway staff work assignments.
o Schedule the performance and timely completion of key gateway tasks.
o Coordinate work of warehouse and drayage resources to achieve targeted results.
o Hold gateway staff accountable for job assignments as directed and assist in staff performance evaluation.
o Communicate with origin and destination internal and as appropriate external customers.
o Assist in preparing for and conducting gateway conference calls and meetings.
o Perform ACON accounting assignments and assist managing the gateway FSL.
o Support attainment of gateway goals and objectives.
o Fulfill gateway desk-level duties as needed.
o Fulfill the gateway manager’s job duties and accountabilities in his/her absence.
o Support business process improvement initiatives at the gateway.
o Comply with and support efforts and processes designed to enhance air cargo security.
Performance Measurements:
o Support gateway attainment of prescribed company productivity ratios.
o Support gateway attainment of prescribed key performance indicator measurements:
o Flown-as-booked and arrived as planned
o Airport recovery OTP
o Online payment systems
o Supplier cost management and control
o Gateway utilization
Support development and training of gateway staff in compliance with company requirements.
Airline & Supplier Relationships:
Communicate with air carrier and ground handling agent representatives and contribute to air carrier performance evaluation.
o Support gateway efforts to build and maintain positive professional relationships at the local level.
o Support efforts to secure carrier rate agreements that lead to positive air import gross profits.
o Communicate accurately and efficiently with Kuehne + Nagel partners.
o Support efforts with air carriers to service needs of Kuehne + Nagel air import departments.
o As appropriate, contribute creative ideas and solutions to common challenges.
o Support the gateway manager, regional airfreight director and airfreight managers throughout the region to provide excellent services at market-competitive levels of transportation cost.
Your Skills and Experiences
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•Excellent team building skills
•Strong ability to work under pressure and resolve conflict
•Ability to establish priorities and accomplish multiple tasks
•Strong PC skills
•A minimum of three years experience in Airfreight
•College degree and/or certification a plus
