Working pattern/flexible working - We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a blended working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. As a design team we aim for around 2 days a week in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings but again, are flexible on this.

Location - This role is based at our Pimlico Head Office campus. Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the successful candidate. There is no travel allowance for this role. There is also a responsibility to visit our Suppliers / Trade Shows when necessary. You will be able to claim travel expenses for these journeys.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Children’s design team, designing multiple products across our main own brand John Lewis
As a Designer (Partnership Level 8) in the Product Design Profession, you will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering original, relevant, customer-centric and distinct best in class own brand products, utilising customer insights, to inspire, excite and delight our customers & deliver planned growth for categories.
You will take a supporting role in design projects, working independently, alongside or in collaboration with the Designer and Trading community.
What will you be doing?
The main part of you role within the Children’s team is to design Outerwear, Denim and Casual Clothing across boys and girls
Key responsibilities:
·
Play a critical role in delivering product design that will form a coherent category assortment aligned to brand / sub brand guidelines and in service of our customers. Support the Design Team and studio in fulfilling key tasks across the season.

Produce commercial and innovative design solutions to briefs. Develops product design handwriting, displaying a breadth of design handwriting to ensure our customer offer is truly unique.

Assists in the research, preparation and presentation of relevant and appropriate category trends. Demonstrate a good level of research and analytical skills to keep abreast of key customer requirements, market trends and conditions, product trends including technological advancements
·
Ensure the sampling process is efficient. Produces precise design packs and fulfils delegated seasonal design briefs with commercial and innovative solutions, supported by illustrating / briefing / sourcing key materials and details.

Ensure accurate samples are produced. Maintains comprehensive records of design projects.
·
Works on designated product ranges/projects. Takes ownership of design, product development and sampling process, engaging relevant stakeholders throughout, with the support from T1 Designer and Category Lead.
·
Demonstrate continuous improvement.
Essential skills you’ll need:
·
Demonstrates a strong understanding of the JL&P brand, the brand values and potential for product.
·
Extensive proven experience of designing Outerwear, Denim and Casual Clothing across boys and girls
·
Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams, including design, buying and tech.
Desirable skills you’ll have:
·
BA degree in Fashion Design
·
Relevant industry experience within a design studio
·
2-3 yrs industry experience
·
Brand / competitor awareness in the mid to premium market
·
Outerwear experience in 0-3 years as well as 3-12 yrs
·
Some denim experience or at least an awareness
