At a glance

Hybrid Working - This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between Bracknell Head Office 2 days a week and home working. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as required, such as the London Head Office, specific conference areas like Odney or other branch locations.

Our team currently works from the office a couple of times a week to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis outside of that to attend key meetings, but again the frequency is dependent on the business needs.
·
Expected Salary - The salary range for this role is set at £117,000 - £170,500
·
Contract type - This position is a permanent position.
About the role
This role is critical to the growth of the Waitrose Business Plan by ensuring the insight and thought leadership needed to inform & influence decision making is dedicated and embedded at the heart of Waitrose customer, trading and planning processes and a key differentiator in decision making forums .
You will influence decisions at all levels, and support, challenge and empower the Waitrose Senior Leadership & their teams and agencies as a trusted advisor, providing thought leadership, proactive recommendations and provocation on improvement opportunities, whilst championing the Waitrose Customer across all business areas.
You will also collaborate as part of the Data Insight and Analytics leadership team ensuring all relevant insight from across data, research and external sources is surfaced in meaningful and timely ways, and helping source and pioneering new insight sources to complement this, continually supporting the optimisation and improvement of value & efficiency to support and futureproof needs.
What you’ll do
You will be accountable for the following:
Influence & Strategy:
·
You will influence key decisions at Executive and Brand Group levels.
·
Act as a trusted advisor to the Waitrose Leadership Team.
·
Embed insights into Waitrose planning processes.
·
Attend and influence key meetings with timely insights.
·
Ensure insights are accessible and aligned with business priorities.
Customer Focus:
·
You will champion the Customer through the 360 degree view of the Waitrose Food Lovers based on data and research triangulation across all sources (DI&A, external and Ad / Media agencies)
·
Leverage data and research from multiple sources.
Relationship Management:
·
You will manage third-party relationships for optimal value.
·
Play a key role in the DI&A leadership team.
·
Share insights across the Partnership for mutual benefit.
Planning & Delivery:
·
You will develop and optimise an 18-month insight roadmap alongside the DI&A Planning Lead
·
Align resource to the key priorities across the Waitrose value stream alongside the DI&A Planning Lead
·
Empower LoB leaders and teams to answer questions independently, freeing up DI&A resource for strategic / high added-value work
·
Deliver regular actionable thought leadership.
·
Proactively identify pain points and opportunities.
Insight Generation & Analysis :
·
Provide a clear view of the market and competitive landscape.
·
Conduct ongoing analysis of customer metrics.
·
Deliver campaign analysis and effectiveness reports.
·
Support agencies and suppliers with insights.
·
Deliver a 360 view of the Food Lover customer including segmentations that generate actionable insight at a strategic and tactical level, etc.
Tools & Resources:
·
Champion existing DI&A toolkits.& work closely with the DI&A Planning lead
·
Supplement with agency partners as needed.
·
Support the Head of Insight's content roadmap, supplier roster and thought leadership programs.
What you’ll have (Essential Skills)
·
Significant experience in a senior trusted advisor / partnering role (+10 years) in a Senior, CSuite or Exec interfacing customer Head of insight role, either client or agency-side, gathering and leveraging a range of insight and data sources to drive actionable insight & measurable impact
·
Senior Stakeholder Management - Experience of senior stakeholder management (including CSuite, Execs and function areas) and influencing & informing business decisioning across different business areas e.g. Customer / Commercial / Digital
·
Category Insight expertise: An expert in both the grocery market (including market dynamics, competitor dynamics and grocery consumers) and the relevant insight sources and methods for understanding consumer behaviour in UK grocery and worldwide grocery trends (e.g. Kantar WorldPanel; TGI; YouGov; Mintel; IRI; Foresight Factory and any other retail, brand and customer satisfaction trackers as required)
·
Strong technical insight generation & market research / intel experience focused in Grocery businesses and including active industry networks to bring best practice research & insight initiatives and innovations to JLP
·
Business planning processes: Experience in Business planning cycles and managing processes to ensure insight is plugged in at the right time within resource and budget allocations and to timelines
·
Supervising teams and cross functional projects: Building, managing and influencing diverse cross functional teams across businesses including Agency external suppliers (e.g. creative and media agencies)
·
Strong communication and presentation skills: Demonstrable thought leadership through collation, interpretation and analysis of multiple sources of data combined with powerful storytelling, specifically communication and visualisation that brings insight to life for a senior business audience.
·
Strong Commercial acumen: experience applying insight in a progressive commercial environment & competitive market environment to drive measurable value.
