About the Role

An exciting pre-opening opportunity exists for a Maintenance and Security Supervisor to join our team at Hyatt House South Melbourne. In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel’s facilities and security systems as we prepare for our 2025 opening. You will oversee all aspects of maintenance, from preventative upkeep to urgent repairs, ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment for guests and staff.

In addition, you will be responsible for managing the hotel's security infrastructure, including monitoring systems and enforcing safety protocols to protect both guests and property. Working closely with the General Manager and other departments, you will establish a preventative maintenance and security plan that supports the long-term success of the hotel. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in ensuring excellence in both facility upkeep and security operations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct regular inspections and ensure the safe operation of all hotel equipment.
· Develop and oversee comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all hotel systems and guest rooms.
· Coordinate daily work schedules for maintenance associates, focusing on timely completion of guest-related repairs and maintenance.
· Lead the security operations of the hotel, managing systems such as CCTV, access controls, and alarms, and conducting regular security patrols.
· Supervise contractor projects, ensuring compliance with hotel safety and security protocols.
· Monitor energy conservation procedures and provide recommendations for improving equipment efficiency.
· Ensure the proper implementation of life safety protocols and regular inspections of essential safety services.
· Manage the department’s financial operations, maintaining cost-effective budgets and overseeing all FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) expenditures.
· Coach and train the maintenance and security team, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Proven experience in hotel maintenance, engineering, or a related field, with a focus on both operational maintenance and security systems.
·  Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and experience with building management systems (BMS).
·  Familiarity with security systems, including CCTV, access controls, and alarm systems, and a demonstrated ability to oversee security operations.
·  Certification or formal training in mechanical, electrical, or HVAC systems is highly desirable.
·  Experience in managing contractors and external service providers.
·  Knowledge of life safety systems and protocols, including fire, health, and safety regulations.
·  Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
·  Familiarity with energy conservation practices and experience monitoring energy efficiency.
·  Strong budget management experience, with the ability to implement cost-saving measures and ensure financial responsibility.
·  Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies or unexpected situations.
·  Previous experience in pre-opening a hotel or hospitality venue is highly preferred.
