Senior Control Manager – KYC Ops, CCO Operations

  Job Purpose

This role is part of the Chief Control Office (CCO) within HSBC Digital Business Services (DBS). The Chief Control Office is part of the 1st Line of Defence. It oversees the holistic end-to-end health of the control environment; provides a forward-looking view on risk and controls; drives effective design and implementation of controls; and monitors, advises and challenges control owners on how they are managing their risk. It seeks to apply innovative and forward-thinking solutions to risk management in the first line, helping Control Owners to proactively manage their risks.

 

This role reports functionally to the Global Head of CCO WPB Operations. This role is located within Mexico GSC.

 

The core focus of the role is:

·  Supporting, advising and challenging KYC Operations management to ensure that their risks and controls are understood and well managed. The role includes analysing the performance of the control environment, performing end-to-end reviews, deep dive thematic reviews to identify weaknesses and designing new or modified controls to remediate these weaknesses.
·  Supporting the Operations CCO lead and the team to deliver the required support to Operations management. Shoulder additional responsibilities beyond the immediate remit and support the team by sharing best practices, mentoring and coaching new staff etc.
·  Supporting the Global Head of CCO WPB Operations in creating meeting packs and running various governance forums, such as the monthly WPB Operations CEMM, and various Controls related meetings (such as Issues and Actions update sessions).

·  Strong written and verbal communication skills: ability to present complex issues simply and concisely,

·  Able to drive and successfully deliver multiple, wide-ranging priorities, often under stringent time pressures in a dynamic environment
·  Able to influence others; able to build and led build transient informal teams to solve specific issues

  Knowledge

·  Detailed understanding of broad operation activity and the regulatory environment in which Global Operations must operate.
·  Strong knowledge of KYC Operations processes and procedures.
·  Understanding of risk and control frameworks and risk polices.
·  Knowledge of best practice in risk management.

  Experience

·  Operating effectively in a complex, global organization
·  Experience of managing operational risk
·  Experience of designing and implementing process controls
