Job description
The Senior Audit Manager - Global Banking & Markets role is based within Global Internal Audit which provides independent, objective assurance to management and the risk and audit committees as to whether the framework of risk management, control, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, is adequate and functioning. The function comprises a number of Global teams and Regional Audit teams.
The role of the Senior Audit Manager - Global Banking & Markets is to lead audits of the major Global Banking & Markets activities, including HSBC Securities Services as well as support the Group Head of GBM Audit and senior management team in providing independent, objective assurance & consulting services designed to add value to the organisation’s risk management framework and underlying operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the preparation of individual audit plans to ensure that the scope, approach, resourcing and logistics of an audit are appropriately planned;
Lead and direct a team of highly experienced staff and be able to motivate, encourage and challenge them to provide very high quality and value-added results;
Continuously enhance both audit skills/capabilities & subject matter knowledge on topics such as Global Markets product development, Finance, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, etc. in order to make a meaningful contribution in audits, task forces, steering/governance committees and maintaining a “seat at the table”;
Stay abreast of internal and external changes in the risk environment and being able to assess their impact on the control environment within the Global Businesses and Functions. Provide a timely assessment to Executive Management;
Ability to work effectively with regulators, external auditors, consultants, Executive/Senior Management and other control functions such as Compliance, Risk Management and Finance, global audit units and governance/steering committees amongst others.
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Corporate Finance, Origiantion
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. International
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Investment Banking
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Internal Audit, Compliance, Business Management
A track record of delivering significant change which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
Proven experience of leading others and creating an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively
A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
Proven experience of successful project management, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery
The base location for this role is London
